Very interesting list. I’ve only read Red Tent so far, and loved it.
For inspiration and awe, read the series of books written by Jean Auel, starting with Clan of the Cave Bear. I found them all inspirational.

I read those as a kid, but I don’t remember much beyond the basic outline of the story. Maybe I should dig them out.

I like to pick an author and read mostly that author’s works for awhile. Right now I am reading Maya Angelou. The bookstore was out of her 3rd biographical book last night so I chose one of her experiences living in Africa. I think it’s really important to keep reading while in school. I focused only on academics in my youth getting a BA in chemistry/biology and was miserable. In getting my ASN , I stayed involved with life and reading and was much better adjusted and happier. I might break away from Angelou for Pamela Grim’s book on your list. Keep Reading!
